Meet the Tutor:
Joanna Walker
About me:
I have over 19 years' experience as a Secondary English teacher and have worked in 7 schools across Blackpool and the Fylde coast, teaching a full range of ages and abilities. I am also an examiner of GCSE English Language and I have an enhanced DBS certificate.
Background:
I achieved a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Drama from Lancaster University in 2005. I then completed a PGCE in Secondary English in 2006 at Edge Hill University where I achieved Qualified Teacher Status.
Hobbies:
I love reading and attending live theatre and music concerts. I also enjoy sewing and am learning Spanish as my dream is to live in the Canary Islands one day.
Group Masterclasses
All group masterclasses are delivered in person from my home learning studio in Bispham, Blackpool.
Step up to GCSE
Suitable for Year 9 students, this course will help prepare you for the demands of GCSE English Language and Literature by focusing on key skills and content.
Wednesdays 5.30-6.30pm
English for EHE
This class is geared towards students who are electively home educated and are preparing to take their English Language exam next year (summer 2026).
Thursdays 5-6pm
GCSE English Language & Literature
A series of half termly masterclasses for Year 11 students focusing on GCSE English Language, and English Literature set texts.
Tuesday evenings (from September 2025)
