Professional Background and Training
I am a fully qualified secondary English teacher, holding a PGCE and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). I have 18 years of classroom experience and have taught in six secondary schools across Blackpool and the Fylde.
I hold a currentย Enhanced DBS certificateย and undertakeย annual safeguarding training, including (but not limited to:
  • Child Protection
  • Serious Youth Violence
  • Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs)
  • Trauma Informed Practice
I also regularly completeย health and safety trainingย relevant to working with children and young people in an educational setting.
Copies of all relevant certificates and qualifications can be viewed by request. Please email madisontuitionblackpool@gmail.com.
Tuition Environment and Premises
Tuition sessions take place in myย home learning studio, which is accessed directly via the driveway. Students do not need to walk through other areas of my home to access the learning space.
The learning studio:
  • Has four windows and a glass-panelled door
  • Has no blinds, ensuring visibility from outside at all times
A security light is installed on the driveway to ensure the area is safe and well lit when students arrive and leave their sessions.
Other members of my family may be present in separate areas of the home during tuition sessions; however, students will never have unsupervised contact with them, with the following exception:
ย -Should a student need to use the toilet during a tuition session, they may use the bathroom located next to the learning studio, which has a lockable door. This will be an unsupervised arrangement and, while care is taken to minimise any interaction, there may be brief and incidental contact with other members of my family in shared areas of the home.
I also have a small dachshund puppy. During tuition sessions, the puppy is kept securely in a crate in a separate room and does not interact with students.
Group Size and Supervision
The majority of tuition sessions are delivered in small groups, with a minimum of 2 students and a maximum of 4 students per session.
When 1:1 sessions are conducted, parents/carers are welcome to remain for the duration of the session if they wish.
Student Information and Onboarding
Before onboarding any new student, parents/carers are required to complete aย New Starter Enrolment Form. This ensures that I have essential information to deliver tuition safely, including:
  • Parent/carer contact details
  • Information about any disabilities, special educational needs or medical conditions
  • Details of how the student will travel home after sessions
Parents/carers are asked to notify me of any changes to this information as they arise.
Arrival and Collection Procedures
Students under the age of 14 will be escorted out at the end of sessions and supervised until I have seen their parent/carer.
If a parent/carer is not present at the end of the session:
  • The student will be brought back into the learning studio to wait under supervision
  • Once contacted by their parent/carer, the student will be sent out (unsupervised) to meet them if another tuition session has already begun
These procedures are in place to ensure student safety while allowing sessions to run smoothly.
Transparency and Parental Engagement
Prospective parents/carers are welcome to meet with me and view the learning studio prior to tuition commencing. Open communication and transparency are key to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment.
